How the Rocketman Beats AI and the LinkedIn Algorithm

oktober 13, 2025 by Sophie Thiebaut

I have a confession to make: ever since I watched the movie Rocketman, I adore Elton John.

With this post, I’m coming clean about my soft spot for glitter, flair, and those unapologetically catchy love songs I simply can’t resist. There’s emotion packed into four decades of pop anthems, a voice full of power, and the boldness of a man who never stopped being the extravagant ‘caesar of pop’. You just gotta love him.

I feel a connection with Elton. Not a real one (I wish ;-)), but a mental one, you know?

It takes me back to my graphic design student days, when I often struggled with what some call “the artistic eye” – that elusive intuition for ‘good taste’. Especially when it came to colour.

See, I’ve always loved colour blocking. Clashing combinations. Mixing typefaces like there’s no tomorrow. Over-the-top was my signature. My teachers? Most of them wore black. Every single day. A silent tribute to artistic minimalism and ‘refined’ aesthetics. You can imagine their agony when they saw my work with bold letters, purple being mixed with bright yellow.

And yet – while I fully understand how a shared dress code can create a sense of belonging and artistic clarity – I believe creativity needs friction. It needs wildness. A rooftop-shouting kind of energy.

Because when you try to tame creativity too much, it loses its spark. It loses its authenticity.

That’s exactly what I’m seeing more and more on LinkedIn –  and it’s only gotten worse with AI.

So many posts now are clean, structured, algorithm-optimised… but somehow soul-less. Predictable.

And honestly? Boring.

That’s why I wish everyone a little bit of the Rocket Man-factor.

Dare to be your unique self.

Show your colours to the world – especially the ones that don’t match. That give a feeling off friction.

Dare to be over the top. It’s a liberating place to be.

It might feel lonely at first. A long, long time till touchdown brings you round again.

But I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words:

how wonderful life is when you’re unapologetically you.

Show the world your Pigment.

And that’s why I believe that Pigment is a key element in creativity and problem solving. Pigment is about you, your colour, your personality. And when you show that, magic happens. Connection happens.
